The Core Apostolic Church

A Core Apostolic Christian is one who emphasizes the core gospel message. Core Apostolics reject the traditional canon of Scripture and emphasize Luke-Acts and the letters of Paul as foundational scriptural authorities. See NTcanon.com for more on their bases of the Core New Testament Canon.

The term “apostolic” refers to something related to the apostles, particularly the original disciples of Jesus Christ who were sent out to preach the gospel. The word derives from the Greek apostolos (ἀπόστολος), meaning “one who is sent” or “messenger.”

Outline of the Problem

  • Virtually every embodiment of popular mainline orthodox Christianity is derivative from a corrupted tradition.
  • Orthodox Christianity has long replaced the faith of Christ’s Apostles with that of a philosophy cult/mystery religion
  • The prevailing conspiracy has propagated dogmatic control over doctrine, the canon of scripture, and a narrative of history that serves its ideological agenda.
  • While Protestantism did introduce significant changes to certain doctrines and practices, it did not fully uproot the vestiges of an entrenched system.
  • The Protestant Reformation initiated an important corrective movement, but it ultimately fell short in addressing numerous inherited errors within the Christian tradition
  • As a result, important aspects of the faith still await genuine reformation and restoration to their apostolic foundations.
    • Despite notable reforms, many Protestant communities propagated dogmatic theological positions established by earlier church councils and creeds. Chief among these is the doctrine of the Trinity, which remained unchallenged.
    • Although figures such as Martin Luther briefly questioned the scope of the New Testament canon, the collection largely persisted as it had been handed down by a corrupted church tradition.

Early Corruptions to the Faith

  • Doctrinal Corruption
    • Over the centuries, Christian teachings have been distorted, corrupted, and expanded upon.
    • These alterations encompass theology, doctrine, and various traditions, resulting in multiple deviations from the original apostolic message.
      • One of the most notable doctrinal corruptions is the doctrine of the Trinity
  • Textual Corruption
    • Foundational New Testament manuscripts have been subjected to layers of modification and expansion, reflecting the agendas of later copyists, including layers of orthodox corruption in favor of later theological claims
  • Illegitimate Canon
    • There are numerous issues that remain regarding the reliability and accuracy of books within the traditional NT canon.
    • Most especially, the traditional grouping of the four Gospels is spurious, and most of the gospel narratives are embellished accounts with poor reliability.
    • Some other NT books are later works falsely attributed to apostles.
    • Not all the books of the traditional canon were held at the same level of authority in the early church.
  • Fabricated Texts and Historical Narrative
    • The dominant Roman / EO Church suppressed dissenting views and shaped a revisionist history favorable to its authority.
    • This approach included the introduction of forged documents (e.g., certain Ignatian writings) to convey a false continuity of doctrine.
  • Alteration of Christian Ordnances (Sacraments)
    • Proto-orthodox expansionists substantially altered ordinances such as water baptism and the Lord’s Supper, departing from the original practices upheld by the apostles.
      • Water baptism was altered from Jesus’ name to a tripartite formula of Matt 28:19.
      • The Lord’s Supper was altered from something done for remembrance to actually feasting on the body and blood of Jesus.

We Affirm Luke-Acts + Paul as the Root of Apostolic Christianity

  • Core Apostolic Christians identify Luke-Acts and the writings of Paul as the definitive of true Apostolic Christianity.
    • Luke is the most reliable Gospel. Luke-Acts provides continuity between the life and ministry of Christ and that of his apostles.
    • Paul’s letters pertain to the apostolic period of Christianity, within a few decades of Christ.
    • These works encapsulate the original apostolic proclamation and align closely with the essential truths taught in the early Church.
    • By prioritizing these texts, we aim to realign faith and practice with the genuine apostolic witness.
    •  We emphasize the core simplicity of the Christian faith by focusing on the central truths preached by the Apostles

Committed to Bringing Reform to the Body of Christ

  • We strive to expose falsehoods perpetuated by both traditionalist institutions and contemporary Christian voices who maintain a distorted narrative.
  • We seek to rectify misunderstandings about textual transmission, canonical development, and key theological concepts
  • We embrace textual criticism to arrive at the most reliable and defensible Scriptural foundation of our faith
  • We are committed to exposing fundamentalist views on Scripture, including the traditional canon as the fundamentalist dogma that it is.
  • We actively seek to expose issues with lesser reliable and later Gospel narratives in favor of the most primitive narrative exemplified in Luke
  • We encourage the Christian community to scrutinize long-held assumptions, recognizing that centuries of prevailing orthodoxy have embedded significant errors into mainstream tradition
  • We are committed to proclaiming the core gospel message that was initially taught by the apostles, free from later additions and philosophical overlays.
  • Above all, we seek to promote a genuine Christian faith motivated by love and guided truth under God’s controlling influence.
